Our Teachers

Licensed Director, and certified Music Together® teacher, Jessica, originally from Montreal, Quebec, first came to Music Together® in 2008 through her pursuit to share her love of music with her own children. She then completed her own training with Music Together® in Hingham, MA at the South Shore Conservatory. She believes music is one of the greatest gifts a parent can give a child and that music creates a strong foundation for all other learning. She received a B.F.A. in Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design and an M.F.A. in Education from Boston University.

Jessica has been involved with music from a young age participating in musical theater and playing guitar and singing in choirs. Over the years, she has recorded and performed with various musicians in Canada.

To be a part of strengthening family bonds and establishing a foundation for a lifetime of music is a great gift and joy. Teaching Music Together® provides her with the opportunity to share her love of singing, dancing, guitar playing, and drumming (pure fun!).
"At home, hardly a day goes by without my kids and I dancing around the house and creating silly lyrics/sounds/movements to a song.”

Jessica is passionate about music, teaching and the development of children. She creates a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development.

photo Brooke Bartlett-Kneller

Brooke and her family recently relocated to Maine from coastal Georgia where she was the Owner and Director of Golden Isles Music Together. In addition to teaching family music classes, Brooke played the trumpet with three classical and jazz ensembles. Before spending five years in South Georgia, Brooke lived most of her adult life in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she taught elementary and middle school ESL, English, choir, and skiing. Brooke has a BA in Drama and a MAED in Teaching. She spent many hours acting on stage and working tech backstage for various community and regional theater companies in Utah and Georgia.

Brooke recently began playing trumpet with Mondaynite Jazz in Camden and Lincolnville Band, and she is super excited to begin teaching with Midcoast Music Together. Brooke, her two young children, and her husband are happy to be back in her husband's home state of Maine where they can enjoy the beautiful outdoor activities and vibrant art scenes.

Ursula Crosslin has trained and worked as a music educator, performer, and researcher, finishing a bachelor's degree in piano performance with a minor in vocal performance at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, and a master's degree and completing coursework for a Ph.D. in historical musicology at The Ohio State University. She moved to Maine in the fall of 2014 and came to Music Together soon thereafter with her children, who are five and one. She says she was "utterly delighted to see my girls respond to the music and the community that Jess creates in her classes--not to mention I was enjoying the music and having fun too! I was drawn to the playful pedagogy of the Music Together approach, and I am excited to join in as an instructor!"

BJ came to Music Together® for the first time in 2011 with her twins, Tanner and Abigail and hasn’t left yet!  Born and raised in Caribou, Maine, BJ received her degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2000 and taught 3rd grade for ten years in Washington, ME.

BJ has been in many community theater productions through the years and has been a member of the Penobscot Bay Ringers handbell choir since 2009.  She recently completed the Music Together® teacher training in Hingham, MA, at the South Shore Conservatory and is excited and grateful for the opportunity to pass on the joy that her children have gotten from their Music Together experience over the past two years to other young children in mid-coast Maine.
